How to allow a blocked program with Norton?

Many times the smart firewall blocks certain programs from accessing the internet. These programs may include certain streaming media programs, network games, or custom business applications that are used y the employer.

If you’re sure about the program’s internet activity isn’t a threat then you can unblock the program’s internet access. In this article, learn how to allow a blocked program with Norton setup as well as turn off the automatic program control.

Here, are the steps to allow a blocked program-

  1. Open the Norton main window.
  2. Select the ‘Settings’ option.
  3. Click on the ‘Firewall’ option.
  4. Choose the program which you want to allow accessing the internet on the ‘Program Control’ tab.
  5. Click the ‘Allow’ option in the access list.
  6. Select the ‘Apply’ option.

When the web-enabled programs run for the first time, Norton firewall automatically configures the internet access settings. ‘Automatic Program Control’ creates the rules for the program who tries to access the internet. Follow the steps to turn off Automatic Program Control-

  1. Open the Norton main window.
  2. Click on the ‘Settings’ option.
  3. Select the ‘Firewall’ options.
  4. Click on the ‘Advanced Program Control’ in the ‘firewall settings’ window.
  5. Switch to ‘Off’ in the ‘Automatic Program Control’ row.

  3. Select the ‘Firewall’ option.
Move the ‘Show Firewall Block notification’ switch to ‘Off’ on the ‘Advanced Program Control’ tab
